BIRDS

Dead birds have a particularly tragic symbolism. Defined by flight but doomed to return to earth.

Urban pigeons’ iridescent collars, exotic in any other context, look oily slick. As city vermin their grisly deaths are not mourned, yet their bright glistening colour and dramatic form are compelling. Crushed wings mimic flight in an absurd and desperate attempt to soar.
